I’m not really sure about the statistics on the correlation of criminality and religiosity. I suspect it has a lot more to do with socioeconomic status than religion.
BUT, I do think there are definite benefits to 1) weekly community meetings, 2) meditative practices, 3) a sense of belonging to something greater. In my opinion this is a natural, biological/cultural/evolutionary human thing rather than evidence of the supernatural, and it seems that it’s widespread across religious belief systems.
