I agree about how cultural beliefs go deep into our subconscious and it's very hard to shift away from them.

Re: the logical implications of near death experiences... what do you mean exactly? Do you mean that if I trusted that experience to guide me through the dying process, I'd realize it wasn't worth being afraid of..?
